Stranglers Convention 2001, Part 2

Saturday night was the main event. A cancellation of one of the bands to play meant that a replacement had to be found, and that replacement was the Mission. As an old Mission fan, this was great news! There are some photos of the Mission set on another page.

Sadly, none of our photos taken of the Stranglers preforming their electric set came out, as it was difficult for Denise to get to the front (hey, I was too busy jumping about).

However, here are some people:

There's someone there not wearing a Stranglers top. Have them arrested!

After a grand set, during which they played Mony Mony (a first for the Stranglers, although some were the Mutations in Celia and the Mutations' 1978-ish version) and a song they said they'd never play again - Peaches. Before they played it, Paul rang a friend in the USA that couldn't make it after the tragic events of the previous week, and kept the mobile line open during the song.

Scientists say up to 90% of body fluid is lost during a Stranglers gig

The next morning it was the five-a-side football tournament. I didn't play because I'm crap at it.

JJ out and about on Sunday morning (© Grant McNab). He seems to have taken to wearing his boots on his hands.
The chalets behind the photographer in the above picture are where the Black Museum was, and where I found this chap:

Whilst the five-a-side was going on, I found me a Strangler

The Stranglers seemed quite happy to mingle

This is in fact JJ, during his solo set

At the end of JJ's show, he brought the other members of the band on to say farewell. In case you can't tell, left to right: Baz, Dave, Paul, JJ and Jet.
