Dave's Challenge
Dave's Challenge took place on Saturday afternoon, after JJ's
Question Time. If anyone has any photos of this event, please
let me know.
It was a panel based game with limited spaces so there were qualifying
questions, which are presented here.
I never saw the question sheet to enter, and neither did many
people apparently as they needed volunteers to fill up the spaces.
Just as well really, as I don't know the answer to any of these!
Thanks to Grant McNab for supplying the questions:
- Who once dubbed the Stranglers 'Punk Floyd'?
- What is the literal meaning of the Japanese word "hagakure"?
- On the tour to promote which album were the band supported
by tap dancing,
Spoon-playing Nick Malham?
- What exactly did the sign say on the infamous hut where the
band first rehearsed?
- Which author did Paul interview for Strangled?, and name his/her
book that was turned into a BBC adaptation.
- Where was the band's first pub gig (pub and town)?
- Name 3 of the 8 albums Paul quoted in Strangled as his 'most
influential of all time'
- Shake Some Action' is the best-known track by a band who shared
the bill with the Stranglers in the late 70s. And that band
is?
- Where did the launch party for 'About Time' take place?
- 'and for that reason, I send a kiss to all the children of
the world' - this line appears in a slightly different form
no a Stranglers track. What track?
- Obscure connection time 1: The Stranglers/Star Wars - what
item links them?
- Obscure connection time 2: The Stranglers/Mike Oldfield- connected
by what or whom?
- Who was the transsexual support act fawned over by the band?
(ouch, sorry)?
- 'It's Von Daniken meets Kraftwerk meets Giorgio Moroder meets
the Stranglers' interpretation of the Old Testament' who said
it and about which song?
- The Dave Greenfield Challenge needs me because............
